ALLELUYA BAND TIYANJANE IY496010 TC £ 15.00
They call Malawi 'The warm heart of Africa' and with music and singing as soft and fragrant as this I can definitely see why. The guitar strings dance, the keyboard player tinkles his ivories ever so softly and the singers get you to drift away with their sweet vocals. It might sound to good to be true but this is a pleasure trip that mustn't be missed. [12T/57M] 1. IMFA YA AMBUYE

KASAMBWE BROTHERS BAND NDILIBE AMBUYE PAM005 TC £ 0.00
Recorded in Malawi in 1991/92 at MCDE Studios and released in UK by Pamtondo. At one time the most pirated cassette in Malawi. Fourteen wonderful tracks from the Brothers at the peak of their youthful powers. Pure magic from the the three boys who make up the band, the oldest was 18, the youngest just 12 years old. Gorgeously rootsy guitars, one of which is home made, as are the drums, all vibrantly played with loads of feeling. Sweet vocals add the finishing touch to this really danceable album. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

It was made in the U.K. so you would think it would be easy enough to find details about it. However just you try finding out anything about it anywhere on the web and you will I'm sure end up here.

Paul Banda is probably one of the best known musician in Malawi as not only has he released fifteen albums himself but he also founded and played in the Alleluya Band while also owning the Imbilani Yahwe Studio in Balaka. VARIOUS ARTISTS MOYO WANGA PAM005/6 CD £ 0.00
This was released by Pamtondo as a compilation CD culled from the cassettes PAM005 and PAM006. It came in a slimline CD case with a copy of both the cassette inlays only. No proper CD front or back insert. The CD is printed with part of the cassette front image and then is hand written.

From https://atertiarysource.blogspot.com/2016/01/pamtondo.html?view=classic

Released in 1992, the same year as Ana Osiidwa, Moyo Wanga is one of the early CD compilations of Pamtondo that opens with Alan Namoko. Though his deep, rumbling voice is a warmly welcomed introduction, the main focus of the compilation is on Jivacort Kathumba and Kasambwe Brothers Band. Jivacort plays for four songs consecutively, and the other half of the album extensively samples the Kasambwe Brothers cassette 'Ndilibe Ambuye'. Interesting to note that Ndilibe Ambuye was cited by Lwanda as the 'most pirated cassette in Malawian history', though no complete rips currently exist on the internet. The Kasambwe brothers themselves were between the ages of 12 and 18 at the time of recording, and since many people (myself included) tend to resonate both nostalgia and purity with youth, I'd say that this compilation follows in the footsteps of Ana Osiidwa quite nicely. The Kasambwe tracks remain speedily paced with gentle voices, exemplified by Check Your Step, Aids Is A Killer, which is perhaps the best track. While not much information exists about the compilation or the artists on it, it's a superb release that again expresses Pamtondo's vision with efficacy and care.

Just as a matter of interest am I alone in thinking that track 6 is the Kasambwe Brothers and not Jivacort Kathumba?
